I had the experience of hearing Lenny live as an underage youth sneaking into clubs in the early 70s in Edmonton. Breau’s tragic death is just one of the aspects explored in The Genius of Lenny Breau Remembered. Atkins was instrumental in getting Breau his first recording contract after hearing one of the latter's studio tapes. Breau died in 1984; the coroner reported that he had been strangled, and the cold case is being investigated to this day. I remember being completely mesmerized by the soft voiced man on the guitar,but only vaguely aware of his absolute transcendent ear and ability, and in retrospect, oblivious to the tribulations of his life.
I have most of his releases on LP, except for a bunch of the newer ones put out by Bachman.
